Recommendations go a long way to helping you land more clients.
Getting public proclamation on social media from one of your clients can help convince others that you’re the best company to do business within your niche.
But social media recommendations aren’t easy to get.
People are more than happy to give a recommendation to a brand they love. And they’re more than willing to use social media.
Yet for some reason, people don’t always recommend brands.
Here are some tips to help you get more social media recommendations.
1. Provide An Instant “Wow” Factor
When people are instantly wowed by something they are very likely to want to tell people. It’s instant confirmation that they made the right choice to make a purchase.
It’s like buying a new car. You know you’re getting something nice, but as you drive away from the dealer you realize the car has self-tinting windows or something cool.
You want to tell everyone about that extra little surprise.
Work in a surprise with your product so new customers get the wow factor and they’ll likely recommend you on social media right away.
2. Share The People That Do Recommend You
Sometimes people don’t know that they can recommend you on social media like Facebook and Twitter or even on LinkedIn.
A Good way to let them know that you encourage it is to share or re-share the recommendations.
Brands do this all the time on Twitter. A person will say something nice about the brand and the brand will retweet the message. This gives a little credit and exposure to the person that provided the recommendation.
Your other customers will see that you encourage it and they’ll know they can get a little notice if they say something nice about you.
3. Recommend Others
You can pay it forward by recommending your customers. Don’t expect anything in return. Always disclose that the brand is a client if they are when you post the update.
Sometimes being the first to make a recommendation will get you notice from a particular client and it can even let others know that you appreciate all the clients you have and the work they do.
Bonus. Your Product and Service Are Most Important
Nothing will top your product and service when it comes to referrals and recommendations. Creating a great product and providing good service should always be the first priority for generating word-of-mouth referrals and recommendations.
But once you have this down and you’re confident you can engage in the other items above to really get your referral engine going.
