3 Unique Ways To Grow Your Online Retailer Leads Email List

By Darren Pierce on Sep 9, 2015 11:00:00 AM

The growth of your client base usually coincides with the strength of your email list. The better the list the more opportunity you have to generate sales because once you acquire a lead's email you have direct access to his inbox for correspondence and nurturing.

These days email addresses aren’t given away lightly, so you need to have a good strategy in place to effectively grow your list of retailer leads. Below are three unique strategies meant to help you start growing your list.

1) Pay-Per-Click Ads

SEO takes time, but you can appear at the top of the search results by the end of the day if you’re willing to pay for clicks. Depending on how much value you place on each email address, creating paid search ads could produce a pretty good return on investment.

To entice users to both click and give up their email addresses, you have to offer a solid freebie that provides some serious value and you have to develop a killer landing page. Use similar verbiage in your ad copy as you do on your landing page so retailers don’t feel like they’re about to get scammed if they enter their email.

Pro Tip: Google and Bing are great, but don’t forget about Facebook ads either. Custom Audiences can be powerful!

2) Host A Co-Marketing Offer With A Partner

Partnering with another brand to develop a special ebook, webinar or video is an effective way to target a new (appropriate) audience. After you’ve created the content you can both pitch it to your respective audiences and watch the emails roll in from interested retailers. Then you can swap lists and suddenly you’ve just doubled the number of email addresses you would have generated had you tried to push an offer like that on your own.

That’s what I call a win-win for both sides.

3) Include QR Codes On Your Marketing Materials

Whether you’re attending a trade show or are mailing out information, including a QR code is a great way to get offline prospects onto your website. Call out a promotional offer, free trial, or special piece of valuable content, and then take users to a landing page where they can redeem the offer by providing an email address. It’s a similar strategy to the two above, only you’re taking someone from offline to online.

Growing your list of email addresses is crucial to generating a steady stream of new customers.
