Reid's Sales Hack:  Set Recurring Contacts as Outlook Tasks

CTRL+SHIFT+K is the Outlook shortcut for a new Task; CTRL+G makes it recurring. I use that to remind myself to keep regular contact with people who are related to my customer base, but aren’t necessarily customers themselves (i.e. event coordinators, complementary suppliers, even competitors) and who probably aren’t in my CRM.

etailinsights Power User Interview

Reid, what is your favorite restaurant and why?

The Fish Market in San Mateo! $1.50 oysters by the water during Happy Hour, quiet spot to relax after work.

What drove you to begin a sales career in eCommerce?

I switched to sales from strategy and planning-oriented roles. I wanted more direct interaction with customers, I wanted to be closer to the action. I love hunting for online retailers who need help, and earning time on their calendar as an outbound salesperson.

How does Rakuten help etailers?

Rakuten enables eTailers to sell directly to over 100 million customers in Japan through their current US operations with our cross-border program.

How are you using etailinsights to source eCommerce Leads or build a Directory of Online Retailers?

Our team uses etailinsights primarily for prospecting. We use the search features to build segmented lists so we can create a customized offer for etailers based on vertical, size of the business, etc. We want to know as much about a prospect’s business as possible before we reach out to them so we can align our services with their current systems and customers. For example, we might take a slice of apparel etailers within certain revenue parameters from etailinsights, then pull together customer profiles from our own database to show the etailers how many of our customers are likely to buy from them, or how many customer dollars flow through businesses like theirs on our platform, etc. From there we use each business profile to identify the point of contact who is likely to be closest to our channel (marketplaces or international sales) so we can reach out directly.

What is your favorite Top 40 eCommerce Conference  and why?

Is there one in Maui? Can etailinsights inaugurate an eCommerce Trade Show in Hawaii and invite me?
