5 Sales Subject Lines That Will Get eTailer Managers To Open Your Email

By Darren Pierce on Oct 3, 2013 6:00:00 AM

The subject line of an email is like the headline of a newspaper; its aim is to capture eTail managers’ attention and get them to read more.

Here are five things that you can include in subject lines that are guaranteed to get online retailers to read the rest of the email.

1. Currency Symbols

Research conducted by Adestra indicates that including currency symbols near the start of the subject line is an effective means of making your email stand out in the recipient’s inbox.

However, it is important to ensure that the symbols that you use are relevant to the eCommerce company that you are contacting.

2. Use the Word ‘Research’

Adestra’s study also indicates that using the word ‘research’ in a subject line can pique the interest of recipients.

This is because it connotes analysis and insight.

3. Specific Financial Terms

There is evidence to suggest that including specific financial terms can boost the likelihood of a b2b sales email being opened and read.

The words ‘money’, ‘revenue’ and ‘profit’ all perform well. Avoid vague phrases that do not heavily imply a connection between the content of the email and a potential increase in earnings.

4. Etailer Managers’ Names

Putting the name of an etailer manager in the subject line of an email is a surefire means of grabbing his or her attention.

The managers will be more likely to open emails that are personalized in this manner than ones that appear to be generic.

5. State the Benefits of Product or Service

Stating one or two major benefits of your product or service is also effective.

It is a means of letting online retailers know exactly how you can help them before they have even opened the email.
