Power User Spotlight: Jason Skiba, Katapult
Jason's Hack: If you get knocked down, you need to get right back up
The best advice I can give is try to not take anything personally. If you’re in sales, I’m sure you’ve been caught off guard and knocked down a few times. Your reaction should be to get right back up and go after it again. If you’re able to maintain that mentality in work and in life, you’ll always be able to achieve the goals you set for yourself.
etailinsights Power User Interview
Jason, what is your favorite restaurant in Frisco? And, why?
Hutchins BBQ by far is my favorite here in Frisco, TX. I am originally from Chicago and never was a fan of brisket BBQ. The first time I had BBQ at Hutchins and tried their brisket I was hooked immediately. Some of the best BBQ I have ever had.
What drove you to begin a sales career in eCommerce?
During the mid-2000’s, I worked for a larger manufacturer and we began playing around with offering instant rebates on our products that were being sold through some of our eCommerce partners. Traditionally, we focused our promotional efforts with larger retail B&M partners. The targeted promotions within eCommerce ended up completely ramping up sales on certain lines of product for us, during specific seasonal periods, and continued to drive our business within eCommerce year-after-year. What really intrigued me about eCommerce sales, was just how fast the industry is growing. Sales really exposes you to all aspects of business, especially in eCommerce it's very multi-faceted. I'm in a great position to learn from industry leaders and also provide merchants with a solution to grow their business online.
How does Katapult help etailers?
How are you using etailinsights to find eCommerce leads?
etailinsights has become an extremely useful tool for our sales organization since it allows us to identify potential eCommerce sites we're not engaged with. Furthermore, it provides us a snapshot of their business so we can educate and arm ourselves prior to engaging them. With the necessary knowledge we learn, it allows us to have successful calls and meetings with these prospects. Ultimately, reducing the sales cycle and increasing our conversion on closed deals.
What is your favorite Top 40 eCommerce Conference and why?
retailX (formerly known as IRCE). There is just the right amount of marketers, developers, retailers, entrepreneurs, investors, and internet retail experts that make it a great conference. I also traveled quite a bit in my roles, and with this conference only being steps away from where I lived in Chicago, it sure made getting there easy!
