5 Productivity Tips That Will Help You Sell More
If you’re anything like me you’ve got a mile-long to-do list, and you’re constantly trying to find ways to get more done in less time (without sacrificing the quality of work). Below are a few techniques I’ve implemented that have helped me increase my productivity, and I’m confident they’ll also help you sell more this year.
1) Do Your Most Important Thing First
Have you ever heard of the expression, “Eat That Frog?” The main idea is this: if the first thing you do when you get up in the morning is to eat a frog, how much worse can your day get? If you tackle your most important task right away when you get into the office (even if it’s painful), you’ll cut out procrastination time and set yourself up for a more productive day.
2) Avoid Multitasking
In reality, there are no such things as “multitasking.” Our brains can’t handle more than one task at a time, so what most people call “multitasking” is actually “task switching,” and it can be an incredibly inefficient way to work. Each time you task switch it takes time for your brain to refocus.
3) Schedule Meetings Strategically
Nothing worse than having an awkward half-hour between meetings. Does anything ever get done during that time besides sending off a few emails and glancing through a blog post or two? Schedule your meetings in blocks so you avoid wasted time.
4) Find Time For Prospecting . . . Every Day
We all know how important prospecting is and we know we need to dedicate more time to it, but it is hard work and can feel like a nuisance when you have so many other tasks fighting for your attention. My advice? Block off specific times during the day on your calendar that won’t fill with meetings so you’ll always have time to keep the client pipeline flowing.
5) Turn Off Your Unused Channels
This one has been a huge time-saver! If you’re not using a channel, turn it off. Simple. Get off Facebook and Twitter. Free yourself from the constant flow of notifications!
Just a few simple changes like these can dramatically increase your personal productivity.
