3 Tips To Make Your Sales Pitch More Memorable

Everyone’s favorite high school history teacher was not the one that rattled off the most facts about politics and important leaders. It was the teacher who took the time to make the lessons come alive with a story, connected the information to your life and cared about each student. A sales pitch is like a lesson in your eCommerce company--you have to tell a story, connect it to your customers, and make them feel that you genuinely care about their success.

You need to research trends in eCommerce to understand how to best appeal to your prospect’s needs. You need visuals and engagement to keep your presentation interesting. You need a catchy opening and you need to know how you’ll approach them with the next steps to close.

Putting all of these pieces together takes time and effort, so you’ll need to make sure your main talking points stick to your prospect’s mind.

Here are three techniques you can use to make your sales pitch more memorable.

1. Use A Story

Storytelling is a tried and true way to get an eCommerce site’s attention and to help them remember an important point.

Consider how there isn’t a salesperson in the history of salespeople that don’t claim they’re trustworthy, hardworking, and reliable. Prospects hear those phrases all the time. Instead of just stating them in an intro, tell a story that paints a picture of them. Your prospect is more likely to remember the story than they are the individual facts.

2. Find Common Ground

If you can find a way to relate to a prospect on a personal level, your sales pitch instantly becomes more memorable. You become more than just a nameless, emotionless, lifeless salesperson solely interested in closing the sale. You become an actual person that your eCommerce lead is going to remember. Look for common ground in any way you can—interests, experiences, hobbies. Get creative!

3. Be Complimentary

People remember how you make them feel. If you can spark an emotional response during your sales pitch you greatly increase your chances of you and your sales pitch being memorable.

The best way to elicit a positive emotional response is to give a real, genuine compliment. Keep it work-related, and make sure it isn’t over-the-top. If they think you’re fishing for something, this could backfire. They may remember you, but it won’t be in a positive light.

You’ve already put the work into creating an awesome sales pitch, you understand trends in eCommerce. Now you need to make sure the top eCommerce sites remember your sales pitch and think of you as a great teacher who can help them.
