The etailinsights team is teaming up with local cat agencies, Cat Angels, Trap Neuter Return (TNR), and Operation Catnip after noticing five Feral cats (“wild cats”) and at least five kittens in our parking lot. Other businesses in Cary, NC have noticed an increased population
of feral cats, including etailinsights neighbors Lovely Lady and American Agricultural Services, Inc.
Lovely Lady (www.LovelyLadyOnline.com) is a local small business for women experiencing chemotherapy and radiation that provides wigs, hats, prostheses, emotional support, and help for women and their families. The Founder of Lovely Lady, Darlene Gardner, commented on the feral cat situation: “These wild cats have been here at least 3 years and we will take care of them as long as God wants them to live.” Lovely Lady has joined etailinsights in the mission to Trap Neuter Return the feral cats, and Ms. Gardner went on to add “Homeless creatures belong to us and we need to care for them.”
American Agricultural Services (www.amagsrv.com) is a full-service agricultural, chemical (pesticide), and biotech study firm, located in the same office building at Lovely Lady and etailinsights. They quickly jumped in to help with etailinsights’ mission to humanely control feral
cats.
The mission began a few weeks ago when the etailinsights team noticed something unusual in the back parking lot, which turned out to
be five feral cats and at least five kittens. The kittens appeared to still be reliant on their mother for feeding. Colton immediately visited
the local pet store and picked up a big bag of dry cat food and multiple canned flavors of exquisite wet food including the tasty varieties of tuna, turkey, chicken, lamb, and many more delicacies from Purina (www.purina.com). etailinsights began feeding the cats daily and
they seem to be warming up, but they are still wild Feral cats and need to be vaccinated, spayed, and/or neutered. etailinsights newly formed community service committee got together and made the decision to own this problem, and help to get our local feral cat population under control. Teaming up with Lovely Lady and American Ag Services, etailinsights reached out to local non-profit agencies: Trap – Neuter – Return (TNR), Cat Angels, and Operation Catnip.
Cat
Angels is a cat and kitten adoption agency in Cary that prides itself on being a no-kill shelter. They work hard to find homes for each and
every cat and kitten (www.catangelsnc.org). Operation Catnip is an all-volunteer organization that was founded in Raleigh in 1997 and sets out to reducing feral and free-roaming unowned cat populations through sterilization. Trap – Neuter – Return, a Cary Community Cat Program (919 378 1TNR), provides a non-lethal program in which cats are trapped, taken to a clinic to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and tagged before being returned to their original territory. This method has been scientifically proven to stabilize cat populations and let them continue their life “in the wild.” If feral cats are removed from their territory permanently, it opens up an opportunity for more feral cats to inhabit and reproduce. The TNR program returns spayed/neutered feral cats to their territory. Each of these organizations acts as an alternative to Animal Control or Animal Shelters which eventually will euthanize adult feral cats most of the time.
Feral Cat Day is October 16th, and Operation Catnip is planning a special two-day clinic October 13-14th. etailinsights hopes to have all
of their feral cats fixed and returned over this weekend in time for Feral Cat Day. etailinsights, Lovely Lady, and other Cary small
businesses will be making ongoing financial donations to help these organizations, and they challenge other local businesses to do the same.
